Ron Wakefield will be our guest meditation teacher at this month's meetup. Ron began practicing yoga when he was 20 years old as taught through the Himalayan Institute. He was blessed to be taught by a teacher in the authentic yoga tradition. Ron's goal in leading this meditation is to share a method that he has found very useful in his own life. Ron will conduct two guided meditations of approximately 15 – 20 minutes each. Prior to the meditation Ron will address fundamental meditation principles. The discussion question for the month is: What is it to experience spiritual "awakening" or "enlightenment" , and how can meditation help us to achieve this state? Bring your thoughts and/or questions on the subject. The Atlanta Meditation Meetup is open to anyone with an interest in meditation. This is not a meditation 'class' as such, and we do not promote any particular type of meditation or spiritual philosophy. The goal of this group is to gather together people who are interested in exploring meditation in a friendly and nurturing environment where we can all share the techniques that we each find beneficial, ask for advice when needed, and learn from each other so that we all benefit, and hopefully improve the results we each achieve in our own meditation. All are welcome to attend--no matter if you are a beginner or have many years of experience. The meetup begins at 2:00 pm. The length of the meetup may vary, but we must be out of the room by 4:00 pm. Note: The floor is carpeted with commercial carpteting--which is a bit hard, so you may want to bring a pillow to sit on or a blanket to lay on. There are chairs in the room available to sit on. Some people have commented that they find the room a bit cold, so if you tend toward feeling cold , you might want to bring a sweater or shawl. No special dress code, just dress comfortably. Also, please keep in mind that we must comply with the Library policies, since we are using their facilities.
